I have recently purchase a Nikonos iii. For those who don't know what it is. Well, it is an underwater 35mm camera. Thats right! It's an underwater film camera. I have never done a shoot underwater, nor would I imagine knowing how to do so. I gave a call to my favorite and most beautiful gal. Push her in the pool. Then just started photographing. 4 hours later and this is what we got.
Also, keep an eye out for my latest series. This will be a collection of underwater series. A collection I been working all summer. Thanks to Carolyn, I now have the experience to create something remarkable.
So, photography could some times be extremely boring. Especially when its the same style of photography over and over. Thats why I have my friends that I could use and abuse. Always surprised how welcoming and open minded they are with my idea. This set wasn't anything too extravagant. I just really wanted to do a Star Wars theme shoot.
Giving you guys a heads up. I am currently working on a underwater series. Although I have tons of material to show. I wont be submitting anything until I have my show.
Since the first day I met Nebby, its been nothing but good vibes. She's a gorgeous gal that loves to be in front of the camera. Lucky for me that's a big plus! I could attempt a new concept/style and it wouldn't matter on the outcome. We could totally fail on a shoot and she still comes back with a bigger positive attitude. Thanks to her, I have been so confident of my work. Helping me break new boundaries and becoming a better photographer.
Here is a shoot that she help me create. I attempted to reinvent my style a little. Nebby just killed it!
So like many of you guys know. I am originally from California. It is my hometown and it's place I just can't stay way from. My hometown is La Puente, Ca and and it's a fairly small town. Well small for Southern California. It does have a horrible reputation. Lets just say it falls in the barrio of mix people. Still it is the motherland for my and many more amazing people.
It is home to some of the most talented people I know. Vanessa is one of them. Although we met in social media. Vee is one stunning gal with a lot of woman in here. With such a pleasant personality, you wouldn't of know that she is practicing boxing. So I try to stay on her good side when I visit. Still, I always make it my mission to visit her and do some shooting. Maybe next time I'll be able to photograph her in the gym.
This session was photographed with Kodak Ektar 100 and Ultrafine 400. Enjoy!
So, I'm a horrible blogger. I don't have the time or effort to just sit down and write. Sometimes I find it difficult to even get a sentence written down. It's not my forte when it comes to this. Still, I enjoy sharing my photographs and maybe some stories to go with. So today I'll be sharing photographs of an amazing gal. Mostly because it's an amazing feeling when another photographer ask you for a shoot.
Mac Coplin from Pink Rose Photography is something else. Such a diverse girl with multiples hobby's and interest. She's a killer Jiu-Jitsu champ. One of 3 host for a podcast called MissFit jiu-jitsu. Also, she is even starting her very own youtube page. Where she mostly rants about things. Still funny to watch though. Beside being drop dead gorgeous, she is an amazing photographer.
Now, I know some of you guys are wondering. Why is this photographer giving us hype for another photog. Well, to me it will not make a difference if you pick me or another photographer. All that matters is the appreciation and the results of the final product. The value and the experience we have is what matters the most. I have always told to all of my future clients. If my body of work doesn't fit your expectation. I have tons of other recommendations. Mac is one of those photographers I enjoy recommending. Anyways, enjoy the photographs!
So it was a Friday night and I was enjoying a light dinner with Carolyn. At some point during our meal we started discussing artist (like we normally do.) I mentioned one of my favorite photographer, Tanja Lippert. She is an amazing film photographer. Picture perfect in every roll film she uses. Anyways, I mention that I would like to use one of her photograph as an inspiration. Next thing I know, Carolyn said that she is available that Sunday.
Being extremely excited, I agreed to set our shoot on Sunday morning. I ordered my film and started working on the crown. Carolyn had the fun job in thrifting for the outfit. Like any normal shoot, NOTHING FALLS INTO PLACE. The crown kept falling apart. Carolyn couldn't find an outfit that best fit our inspiration. So we just played everything by ear.
We arrived 7:00am at Lake Overholser located in Yukon, OK. The weather couldn't be any more perfect. We both started our hike and set up camp. I used both Ektar 100 and expired Portra 160nc.
I had the pleasure to do another set with Nebby. Such a rad girl with such a brilliant mind. Everything I talk to her, it's always about going to the library and study. Still has time to meet with me and have a relaxing session. I guess college life is a breeze for her.
This time around I took her for a hike in one of my favorite spot. I told her that after a long a day I will come here and sleep on my hammock. I actually the concept of this so much. I invited Nebby to model for me on this set. Enjoy.
This is totally an experimental shoot. I am more than grateful to have someone like Shelly. Not only is she stunning and drop dead gorgeous. I could get her to model for me whenever I need to try something new. Even if I fail on our session, she's still gives her best. Thanks to her I could practice on different styles on film.
Which is the beauty of film. With just one type of film. You cold easily create a new look by pushing and pulling. This set was created with Kodak Portra 400 and Kodak Tmax 100. Both of the film where metered at 3200 and develop at 1600. If this is confusion. I simply pushed my film to a different reading. I made it more sensitive when I develop the roll of film.
Just finish an exciting shoot with this wonderful girl. Nebby was truly a pleasure in working with. Shared lots of laughs and jokes.
Sidnea has been a pleasant person to work with. Luckily when I have an itch to shoot she has been a phone call away. I can't wait to create more work with her in the future. Here are sample shots I did this previous Sunday. All photographs where taken by expired film. I used a Hasselblad 500CM with expired Fuji 160NPS expired 2008. I also used Canon EOS 3 using Kodak Portra 160 NC expired in 2005.
